About Kat

My journey has rarely followed a conventional route

Choosing curiosity over comfort has taken me to more than 30 countries — and counting. I’ve learned to savor the moments that quite literally take your breath away: rounding a quiet corner and suddenly facing the towering façade of a cathedral in Germany, watching my children dance freely to street musicians in Paris, or seeing my daughter light a candle in reverence inside the gothic Cathedral of Palma de Mallorca.

As a grad student in the UK, I often traveled solo across Europe. Today, I work abroad and travel with my two children — not just to see the world, but to learn history, languages, and, above all, human connection.

WHERE MONEY FITS IN

What many people don’t see behind these experiences is the intentional financial planning that makes them possible.

Traveling as a parent — especially as a single parent — requires clarity, structure, and realistic financial choices. I’ve learned firsthand how thoughtful budgeting, cash flow awareness, and long-term planning can transform “someday” dreams into sustainable realities.

That experience led me to become an Accredited Financial Counselor® (AFC®), so I could support other families in building financial confidence without sacrificing the life they want to live.

WHY I CREATED KAT & KIDS TRAVEL

This site is part travel journal, part learning space, and part encouragement.

For my children, it’s a living souvenir — a record of what we’ve learned through exploration.

For readers, I hope it serves as motivation to:

  • Travel with your kids without fear

  • Connect across cultures

  • Build financial foundations that support your values

  • Choose curiosity, even when the path looks different

Thank you for being here and growing alongside us.
